the product:
Sphaera’s kawakawa and activated charcoal deep cleansing bar.
For face and body. Suitable for oily and troubled skin. Kawakawa is a native New Zealand plant that has been used as a medicinal herb by the indigenous Maori people for centuries. The heart-shaped leaves of kawakawa have powerful anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, and have a soothing effect on the skin. The kawakawa used by Sphaera is harvested in a sustainable manner following traditional Maori practices. The activated charcoal used is a high quality activated charcoal powder made from coconut shells. It has very high microporosity and high adsorption performance, which draws out impurities and gently cleanses without drying.

A soothing, smoky scent that blends woody balsam notes with top notes of greens and herbs.
Top Notes: White Grapefruit, Bergamot
Mid-Notes: Frankincense, Lavender
Base: Vetiver, Virginian Cedarwood

Sphaera's cube-shaped soap bar was inspired by Plato's theory that the regular hexahedron represents the earth. It also resonates with traditional soap making in Aleppo and Marseille, where soap is poured on a concrete floor, striated, and cut into cubes. The more you use it, the more the geometric shape transforms into an organic form like a pebble, and it fits perfectly in your hand.

the maker:
Sphaera was founded in Wellington, New Zealand in 2015 by Ali Johnson, a visual artist and medical practitioner. The brand's name comes from an old spelling of the word “sphere". It is meant to be able to grow into anything, and has a pleasant sound, reminiscent of soap bubbles. Sphaera's products are created to approach the senses of sight and smell, making everyday self-care a special moment. In addition to its signature soap bars for the face and body, Sphaera also offers laundry products, a hair care collection in the shape of a cylinder, and travel kits. Sphaera's soap bars are made using the traditional cold process. The soap ingredients are mixed in small batches at low temperatures, poured over a period of several weeks, cut by hand, and cured in the air. Each piece is carefully crafted to maximise the rich scent of essential oils without sacrificing the cleaning and moisturising power of natural ingredients. They actively use ingredients from New Zealand and the Pacific region as much as possible, such as kawakawa from New Zealand and olive oil from Wairarapa. The scent is a custom botanical blend consisting of pure essential oils from plants using traditional perfumery techniques. The profile is well-balanced to match each type of soap bar. Even when the soap bar is not in use, the scent will spread throughout your space and calm your mood like aromatherapy.

All Sphaera soap bars come in environmentally friendly paper packaging. They are cruelty-free, palm-free, and produced in a sustainable manner. Sphaera also collaborates with New Zealand potters and sells soap dishes that perfectly match the shape of the soap bars.

*Free of palm oil, sulfates, silicones, phthalates, parabens, artificial colours and fragrances.
*There is no expiration date on the soap, but some of the surface scent will fade over time.
